Andrea’s Journey to a More Meaningful Career

After more than a decade working as the Senior Administrator of a busy funeral home and cemetery office, Andrea found herself standing at a crossroads. Thirteen years of dedicated service had given her experience, stability, and routine—but it had also left her longing for something more. Something lighter. Something that offered room to breathe.

Then life shifted.

When COVID arrived and her beloved mother received a terminal diagnosis, Andrea stepped away from work to care for her. During that difficult season, mother and daughter shared honest conversations about purpose, happiness, and what it means to build a life you truly love. Her mother encouraged her to follow a new direction—one rooted not in obligation, but in joy.

Those conversations planted a seed.

A lifelong lover of language, Andrea had always gravitated toward reading, writing, and the power of the written word. She also wanted greater autonomy and control over her time. That combination led her to explore remote, skill-based careers—and eventually, to discover Proofread Anywhere. After researching the opportunity thoroughly, she enrolled, completed the program, and earned her certification.

That first step opened the door to her next: Transcribe Anywhere.

Andrea enrolled in the General Transcription course, then continued on to Legal Transcription. She’s now close to completing the program—though her final exam is on a brief pause for a wonderfully encouraging reason.

She just landed her first freelance transcription opportunity with a government agency in her hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

While her long-term plan is to build her own transcription business, Andrea is embracing this first professional opportunity as a chance to grow, gain experience, and strengthen her skills with real-world work.
